TODAY is the BIG DAY!!

*****UPDATE***** Mary is done! She beat her time from last years marathon. She's home showered and tired, but she IS home safely...my prayers have been answered. :0)

Tomorrow...er today... while most of us sit on our duffs in a comfortable church pew, or just lounge around the house wishing for the cleaning fairy to show, my cousin Mary will be on her way to the Chicago Marathon. She's not going as a spectator, but going to pound the pavement for 26 MILES grueling. TWENTY SIX. She is doing this for our family, for Evan. Adoption is tough, and expensive. Mary is tough, and selfless. It's not like she's been able to hit the treadmill/pavement with ease and stride...she works full time, has a family (all male, mind you.) AND has gone back to school. She too has not see nor heard from the cooking and cleaning fairies, so those are added chores to her everyday 'list.'

Mary wanted to run for us as a fundraiser through giveforward.org. Go there if you'd like to learn more about it, or even donate, as it would be a huge encouragement to her. (we won't mind either!) This fundraiser is called "Operation Little Buddy." She has dubbed Evan as her "Little Buddy." I'm not sure who's going to be more excited when we come off the big plane from China....Mary or my mom. Of course, Mary IS a bit quicker on her feet, so she just might beat 'Nanny'. (sorry Ma)

Beyond a fundraiser, just why is she running again?

She's making a difference in the life of a child, OUR child. She's helping to make his homecoming real. Watch in the video as Evan learns about his forever family. Yeah, Mary has a part in that. That's pretty great. Have you done something great today?

Now, just imagine what the world would be like with a few more "Mary's?" That would be pretty great...turned amazing!
