The birthday Report!

Please forgive my lack of blogging...I've been...well a bit under the weather.

Evan's birthday party was a blast! The day started off with thunder and lightening but the clouds gave way to a beautiful day. Evan was still half asleep when he asked if "today was Elmo day." Finally, FINALLY I could say, "yes!" I wish I could describe to you this half conscience excitement! It's weird...his body is up and moving, but there is absolutely not a conscience thought taking place. After a few bumps into door frames, he's awake...and smiling!

Water and pop were chilled in the cooler, the BBQ was made, the beans in the pot, the cake...almost picked up, and the water balloons were filled by 4pm. Evans excitement was growing by the minute! Family gathered at my mom's house (thanks for having this Mom!!)

When it was time to head over, Evan could hardly contain himself. He saw the Elmo hats...all in celebration of him. The Elmo plates, cups, napkins...all in celebration of him. He even had a bunch of balloons thanks to Aunt Emmy and Uncle Ben (Evan calls Emily Ay-ia Ma-gwa...or Aunt America)

Then he saw the cake...OH MY. it was a giant Elmo head cupcake cake. And the bright red frosting was three feet thick. Super finger swipable/lickable for sure! This was the cake he had been anticipating ALL WEEK.

Then the guests started to arrive...his favorite people. Cousin Mary, Cousins Natty & Grant, Aunt Susie....he thought it pretty cool all these people had gifts for him too. Imagine that, his favorite people all bearing gifts!

Daddy prayed and thanked the Lord for Evan, and bringing him into our family. His life is truly the best gift of the day. When to think that few thought he'd see his 3rd birthday. God knew. He heard the fervent prayers of so many and spared Evan's life. I wish all those who prayed so long for him, and for us, his forever family, to find him, could have been there to celebrate too.

Nanny bought a pinata. It was frightful to see such a cute Elmo bashed into pieces, but I suppose that's what happens when you give some little (and big) boys a couple of bats.

Also on the docket of fun were water balloons...LOTS of them! A hose spraying water, sparklers and oodles of yard toys.

It was fun, it was relaxing, and now we have a house full of obnoxious and loud toys that Evan thoroughly enjoys.

Just a note about Evan...his favorite gift was a small stuff..NON JABBERING Elmo. Since he received it from Ay-ia Mag-wa, he's been asking for one for his Mei-mei, Polly. Nearly every morning, Evan asks to see pictures of he and Polly. He loves her, and will often be seen sporting pictures of his two favorite people, Polly and his daddy, Craig. He is something else! So, we found a little stuffed Elmo, and will be sending it to Polly shortly. Evan has the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met...and he's 4.
